Manga The Chronicles of the Dragon Slayer
Description Its a very old story. I actually started the series when I was twelve, so its a little nerdy. But it is still the most important of my comics, I think. I just re-started the series (for the third time) on January 1st, 2008. I'm finishing up volume 2 right now...That's slow work because I am still in school AND I work full time. Soooo...yeah. Slow. But its speeding up and next summer it will really catch fire. Its also a very long story, though. The original version (which I finished ages ago) was a 4 part series. Each part was about 12 volumes long, (in this version, it will be much longer, because the story is much more developed) and each volume was 27-30 pages long, covers not included. Sooo, you ready for this?
The Chronicles of the Dragon Slayer, or DS for short, is the story of Akio Mansai, the reincarnation of the sun god, SOL. In his current body, he was possessed by the evil god of fire, Emberlaid/Akari, who lusted for Sol's/Akio's power. While Akio was possessed, he killed many people. The event became known as the Chesire Massacre. Everyone in Fujita (the fire continent of Menophia, the fantasy world this comic is based in) blamed Akio for the devastation, ignorant to the truth behind the rampage. Now, three years later, Akio is in hiding, still unable to prove his innocence. But when he meets Aero Mii and Lord Cyrus of Fujita, things begin to look up. But Cyrus is too preoccupied with rumors of war upon the humans of Fujita, lead by the notorious Akari, who wishes to destroy the human race. Now Akio, Aero, Cyrus, and many other interesting characters must obtain the one thing that can save them: The Sword of Souls; a sword of ancient Menophian legend that once saved the human race from the fearsome dragons that once ruled the world. But what sacrifices must they make to overcome their problems?
Thats just the gist of it. There are about 30 recurring characters in DS, meaning A LOT of side-plots and secondary conflicts.
I'd say this comic would be rated M though, because of blood, gore, and language...I am not sure what your policy about that stuff is...The F word is said >>; and there is a lot of throat ripping and stabbing....heheh. And it would be classified as adventure fantasy, but there is plenty of romance, drama, action, horror, and comedy too...so its like. Everything >>;
Also, I draw on Xerox paper, white-blue. 8.5x11''. I use black ink for all of my artwork and I do almost no toning. Screen tones are really expensive in Alaska...REALLY expensive. Besides, I really like the contrast that I get in my art without toning. I color with copic markers and TRIA markers and the occassional photoshop. But I am using photoshop a lot less nowadays. My style inspiriation comes from CLAMP and GENEON anime like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Sort of mixed em, in case you didnt notice.
Manga Sample http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=19950I dont have a scanner right now, not to mention, I am re-doing the first ten pages, so DS cant make its debut until January, at least, but please do get back to me anyway.
