Hey, everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed my first submission of Change of Heart!
Well, I guess this topic is for your general discussion of the comic... what you liked, what you don't like, what's confusing, etc. Even if you want to know more about my characters, don't hesitate to ask! :)
Also, if you all want, I'd be happy to post my own tutorials about drawing, techniques, etc! Just request a tutorial, and I'll see if I can share any of my knowledge! lol
The next submission of Change of Heart will be available in the May issue! :)
Hang ten!
Blue

Yay! I have a question!! *raises hand*

How do you visualize the angle (ie, how everything should look like from your drawing viewpoint) when you draw? I see that you have used a lot of different angle views in your manga ^_^ I can only draw front, side or 1/3 side... back... etc =_=...

Blue Light>> I love your Change of Heart! Keep up the great work!

Ki>> LOL, I have a suggestion for making panel and character angles. I always told my sister (who loves to draw manga too) that when you draw in a panel you are actually AREN'T drawing. Rather, you are the CAMERA that moves and capture the characters. When drawing always visualize yourself as a camera and see what the camera would see as it records the motion of the characters. Hope this helped to those who have difficult time with positioning characters and panel angles.

Thanks, Kaiyou! <3 I appreciate your encouragement! :winks:
Thanks for your question, Ki! I'll create a new thread "Tutorial" for angles, and I'll walk you guys through my process! I'm still kind of an amateur at story pacing, but I'll try and do my best! (Should I post a tutorial in my thread, or the Manga-making chat thread?)
But like Kaiyou said, imagine that you're the camera... what's the best view for the action that you want to generate. That's also kind of how I do it. If I have problems visualizing it, I draw small thumbnails or sketches of a scene, and compare which one works best. Sometimes I reference existing manga, look for poses on the internet (be very careful when searching for images!), or look at a camera angle in a movie. Searching for inspiration and reference is an important step for me! Actually, there's a fantastic website full of rotating poses that I find helpful when I'm trying to draw forced perspective and angles! You guys can check it out: www.posemaniacs.com
With drawing, generally the things that are closer to you are bigger, where as things that are farther away are drawn smaller. (Also known as FORESHORTENING). I'll go into detail if you guys want a full tutorial, cause I don't want to make this post too long and painful! :nervous:

Um... my problem is sometimes I try drawing at a new angle, eg. from the bottom looking up top. I try to think what the outcome will look like, but mostly I never know where to draw the lines and the output will vary largely from what I thought at first =_=...

Thanks for that site!

And a tutorial will be great XD Thank you!!

Ah, I see what you mean.
I'll include a few examples on how to draw a simple body at an angle, and then adding features. Problem is there are so many views and it becomes pretty complicated! The human body is one of the hardest things to draw, even in comics! I'll try and help, if I can!

i just read "Change of Heart" and I really liked it! Ur characters are
very realistic, and ur artwork is lovely ^^

I did, however, think it ended at a wrong time. Like I had no clue it
was ending till i went to the next page and i was lik "oh..." but i guess
with deadlines and all, its pretty hard.

Other than that i loved ur toning, and im excited to see the next chapter ^^

I totally agree. I didn't want to end it there, but I only had time to submit those pages and then I had to cut it off! :(
Hopefully I'll finish the chapter by next week, but my life has been packed till now. I will have lots more time starting next week!

Thanks very much! I'm glad you like it! :)
